　　定语从句where的用法

　　1.当主句中的先行词是表示地点意义的名词时，它只能作其所在的定语从句的地点状语，放在定语从句的句首。如果定语从句的引导词作该定语从句的主语或宾语时，也要改用关系代词that或which来引导。例如：

　　This is the room where(＝in which)I lived last year.这就是我去年住过的房间。

　　Is this the classroom where(=in which) the old worker is going to make/give us a report?这就是那位老工人要给我们做报告的教室吗?

　　where引导的定语从句的先行词大多数情况下是表示地点的名词，但也有特殊情况。如果定语从句修饰point，situation，part，condition，activity，case，stage等表示模糊地点的词，关系词在定语从句中充当状语时，常用where 引导，意思是“到了某种地步，在某种境况中” 。例如：

　　1）将其前面的先行词（必须是名词如the place）代入定语从句中，如果可以直接做从句的主语/宾语，则用关系代词that/which。

　　2）如果先行词不能直接和句子其他成分连接，而是必须另外再加上介词，然后一起做定语从句的地点状语，则用关系副词where。

　　如：This is the city where I lived last year.

　　其中：(where) I lived last year = (in which) I lived last year = I lived (in which) last year = I lived (in the city) last year

　　3）至于地点状语从句的引导词，只能是where，不可能用which/that的。
