Thank you very much for giving me the chance to talk about my favourite restaurant. The name of my favourite restaurant is (say the name of the restaurant you are going to talk about) and its situated at the centre of the city I am currently living in. Not only I like the spacious, serene environment, tasty menus that the restaurant serves, but I have lots of memories related to this restaurant. I remember that my parents celebrated some of my birthday parties there, our college friends arranged the get-together parties, one of my cousins marriage ceremony was celebrated there and similarly I attended lots of other parties at this very restaurant.

The restaurant has 3 floors and the sitting arrangement is quite nice. Paintings of famous artists have been hanging on the walls and the place is quite neat and clean. The interior decoration is charming and gorgeous feeling. The ground floor is spacious and can accommodate more than 50 cars parking. The front view of the restaurant is different as the place gives the impression of an urban garden.

The restaurant offers several dishes including exotic deserts, ice-creams and also offers a separate place for the kids to play and have fun. The prices are reasonable and the foods are served quickly as opposed to some other restaurants where you will have to wait for a long for your foods to appear on your table. The waiters and other staffs are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant offers Chinese, Italian, Indian, Thai, Pakistani and local menus that gives you a wide ranges and options to pick from. The soft background music and instrumentals make the environment more enjoyable and soothing. The tables are not congested and people can chat over their personal topics without interruption. The long glass made windows offer the city view which makes the place worth visiting besides the delicious foods. The place must be a good place to be as I often found the foreign tourists visiting the restaurant. The authority lets the customers provide their feedbacks and comments on foods and the place and as I have noticed they take prompt action on a customer complaint.

In short, this is a really nice restaurant to go and enjoy the delicious meals.

Id like to talk about a hotpot restaurant, called super hot, in my hometown. I like hotpot very much. My friend told me about the restaurant, so I went there with my sister.

The food there is very delicious. After eating there many times, I recommended it to my friends and most of them liked it too. I think the manager is very creative. Since the business is very good, sometimes customers have to wait for the tables. The manager make this waiting time more rewarding. When the costumers have to wait for more than five minutes, they can have three plates of vegetables for free. Sometimes we feel happy if we have to wait, which is very different from the experiences in other restaurants. If you eat there, you can enjoy your drinks for a low price and you get your refills for free. I think it is very economic.

It became a very famous restaurant in my city. Now a lot of chain restaurants opened in my hometown. I think the business of this restaurant will be even better. Maybe soon, we will be able to find it in hangzhou.

Ok then, well Im actually quite lucky in the fact that Ive been invited to quite a number of special meals, and the one Ive decided to talk to you about was a farewell dinner of a good friend of mine, because he was about to go off to Canada for a few years to start university there, so he invited a few of his close friends for a farewell dinner before heading off.

And one of the reasons Ive chosen to talk about this meal instead of some of the others Ive been to is simply that its still quite fresh in my memory. You know, it was only about a couple of weeks ago when it happened. And as for where we had the meal, well I cant remember the exact name of the place, but it was quite a posh restaurant somewhere in the centre of the city, and judging from how nice it looked when I walked in, it seemed to be a pretty expensive place to dine. So I was kind of relieved that it wouldnt be me footing the bill! And we also had our own separate room, which was nice, and probably just as well, seeing as we made quite a bit of noise during the meal, what with all the laughing and stuff going on.

Anyway regarding what we ate, well I couldnt tell you every single dish that we had, because there was just so much, you know, the whole table was literally covered with food. I mean, there was crab, chicken, duck, what else, um,……oh yeah, shrimps, and, uh…..oh and a whole load of different vegetables. So by the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed. You know, we all ate masses, because the food was so good, and it would have been a bit of a pity to see it go to waste!

But anyway, finally then, with regard to how I felt about the meal, well to put it simply, I really enjoyed it. Because as well as the food, which was fantastic, I really enjoyed everyones company. You know, it was great being together with so many good friends, many of which I hadnt seen in quite a while.

So yeah, all in all, it was a really special evening, and Im extremely grateful to have been invited, and also very grateful to my friend for his generosity, as the bill must have come to quite a lot, Im sure!

A traditional story :Change and Houyi

Change is the Chinese goddess of the moon. The lunar exploration-orbiting spacecraft Change 1 is named after her.

According to legend, Change and her husband Houyi were immortals living in heaven. One day, the ten sons of the Jade Emperor transformed into ten suns, causing the earth to scorch. Having failed to order his sons to stop ruining the earth, the Jade Emperor summoned Houyi for help. Houyi, using his legendary archery skills, shot down nine of the sons, but spared one son to be the sun. The Jade Emperor was obviously not pleased with Houyis solution to save the earth: nine of his sons were dead. As punishment, the Jade Emperor banished Houyi and Change to live as mere mortals on earth.

Seeing that Change felt extremely miserable over her loss of immortality, Houyi decided to journey on a long, perilous quest to find the pill of immortality so that the couple could be immortals again. At the end of his quest he met the Queen Mother of the West who agreed to give him the pill, but warned him that each person would only need half the pill to become immortal.

Houyi brought the pill home and stored it in a case. He warned Change not to open the case and then left home for a while. Change became too curious: she opened up the case and found the pill just as Houyi was returning home. She either accidentally or purposely swallowed the pill. She started to float into the sky because of the overdose. Change kept on floating until she landed on the moon.

While she became lonely on the moon without her husband, she did have company,a jade rabbit.

  Is weekend important to people?

Definitely it is. In my opinion, when people are very tired or annoyed during weekdays, they need some leisure activities to relax their tension on weekends, and then they can continue more effectively and efficiently. Also, people can do their own business on weekends because they are busy in during work, such as visiting relations and friends, shopping for necessaries and clothes.

What do people do on weekend?

Well, as I just said. People can choose to carry on their personal business or just relax. They can visit and talk to their friends to keep the relationship going on, read books and magazines of their interests, do sports to keep fit, or watch TV to relax their tension. For my family, we always go to supermarket to buy some daily necessaries together, or go to shopping mall to have fun.

Do you think people should be asked to work on weekends?

No, I dont think so. They will be too tired in the weekdays to go on concentrating on their jobs on weekends. Although they are forced to work, the production and effectiveness will be very low. Also, the employees will complain on the company since they have the right to have a rest, so the loyalty will be reduced.

Do you think people should get more money if they work on weekends?

Firstly, I dont think people should be asked to work on weekends. But if there are some urgent tasks, then they should get more money for the extra hours. Because employees have the right to relax and do their personal business on weekends, to respect them and to keep the effectiveness, the manager should pay them more for the work on weekends.

Which day do you like more on weekend?

I think I prefer Sunday, because I always plan to review the knowledge taught during the week or deal with the assignments on Saturdays and have relax on Sundays. You know, all the people prefer rest than studies~Haa~

What do you often do on that day?

Well, in the mornings, I always spend with my friends. We will go to a fitness centre to do some exercise together, or just sit in a Café to chat and share the recent lives. Then in the afternoons, my parents and I will go to supermarket to buy some daily necessaries together, or go to shopping mall to have fun. In the evenings, Ill put myself into the busy studies again, to plan the timetable for next week.

Do you think that people will spend more money on weekends?

Well, I think it depends. Some people like me always go shopping on weekends, so absolutely we will spend more money. Or some like watching movies in a cinema, or having dinner with friends in a restaurant, so are all expensive. But some people only like watching TV at home, or read books in a library, so they will spend the same amount of money on weekend as in weekdays, or maybe even less.

I want to tell you an advertisement about a health product called Naobaijin. Its such a famous advertisement that almost everybody in China can recite the lines of the advertisement.

The advertisement is very simple. An old couple tell us that they dont need any gift for the spring festival but naobaijin. It has been showed on TV year after year, especially during the Spring Festival. In China, young people are supposed to buy presents for the older generation during Chinese New Year, but they usually dont have many good choices except cigarette and wine. These are not good for their health. Because Naobaijin is a very healthy gift for older people, so it becomes popular. You would see it everywhere from newspapers to internet.

A lot of people might feel tired of it, but I think it is a successful advertisement although it is not creative. Its simple to remember so everybody knows this product now. It has drawn our attentions successfully and brought fortune to the manufacturer.

Ok right then, well to be honest, there arent really that many speeches Ive heard which I can remember in much detail, you know, I tend to forget most talks pretty much as soon as Ive finished listening to them! But one talk that did leave a particularly deep impression on me was by Li Kaifu, who Im not sure if youve heard of before, but hes one of the most accomplished and respected people here in China, which is why I made the effort to listen to what he had to say.

And I listened to his speech at home on my computer, because I havent been fortunate enough to hear him speaking live yet, so I basically just found an mp3 recording on Baidu, which I then downloaded onto my computer and listened to.

But anyway, as for what his speech was about, well it was quite a while ago when I heard it, so I can only remember bits of it, but in a nutshell, it was basically about success and how we can go about achieving it. And so in his speech, he outlined a few things that we can do if we want to lead a successful and fulfilling life, which most of us do of course!

So for example, one thing he touched upon was how we should all follow our dreams, instead of simply doing what other people expect of us. And hearing this from Li Kaifu himself really made me believe in the truth of that statement, because hes speaking from experience. And he also went on to explain that many other successful people also attribute their success to the fact that they pursued their dreams.

But anyway, finally, with regard to what I thought of the talk, well to put it simply, I thought it was really informative and so I was able to learn a tremendous amount from it, such as, you know, how to be successful in what we do, and also what values we should live our lives by.

What else?……um……Oh yeah, and another thing that made his talk especially interesting was the fact thathe used a lot of stories. So I mean, even though his talk went on for over an hour or so, I didnt feel bored at all listening to it, and in fact I even made a mental note that, if I ever have to do any public speaking myself in the future, Ill also try to include a few stories, like Li Kaifu did.

So yeah, thats pretty much everything I can remember about it. Thanks for listening!

Ok right then, well the person that Id like to talk about is one of my university coursemates called Nick, because hes honestly one of the smartest people I know. And weve been friends ever since I started university, because I found myself sitting next to him in our first lecture, and we (kind of) just got talking.

As for what kind of person he is, well um, I guess the best way to describe him would be sociable and likeable, coz I mean, although hes a super smart guy, hes not arrogant in the slightest, and he gets on well with pretty much everyone in my year.

Anyway, moving onto why I think hes intelligent, well first of all, he always does really well in all our exams, you know, like coming top or second in most of them. And whats amazing is that he doesnt seem to study (all) that hard, but still manages to do so well. For example, as well as studying, hes also got a part-time job, which Im sure must take up quite a bit of his time. So it ‘s really impressive how hes able to do this without it affecting his studies whatsoever.

And another thing is that whenever the lecturer asks a question, he always knows the answer, and sometimes hell just whisper it to me because he feels a bit embarrassed to answer every time!

So yeah, Id say hes a really clever guy, and I feel very lucky to have such a good friend.

I think the most interesting subject in my high school is geography.I have a dream to travel around the world since I was a child. At that time,I would always wonder where exactly some famous cities were on the map, such as London,New York,so I am really interested in geography.

I had a great geography teacher in my high school.

She was knowledgeable,hard-working and devoted to the students.I always felt very excited when I had geography classes because I couldnt wait to learn more about the world.Besides that,I also liked reading atlas and other books about geography during my spare time.I would always have good marks/grades on geography throughout my high school years.

When I talk about geography with my classmates or even parents,I can always impress them with my knowledge.I still like geography and hope I can travel around the world in the future.

Wind blows up bags higher and higher in the sky.It is a scary thought that some day the earth will turn into a huge garbage land.Wastes,if not treated properly, will make our life a living nightmare.

The environmental issue is getting worse almost every day in cities with very large population. As is often the case, city development outpaces environmental protection.People consume great amount of natural resouces and produce wastes. To effectively address such problems, cities need to spend big money. In addition, they need to call to the attention of people to become more environmentally responsible.

Many people are becoming less responsible and easily influenced by bad behaviors.“Why should I care while others dont care?” Such idea makes some people only concern with places where they live and work.Furthermore, people sometimes even purposely litter for revenge to other people.

Although media promotes environmental awareness, good people are often snubbed as posers who try to set up a superior image in real life.Consequently, they are intimated of receiving negative comments for doing the right thing.Wrong as it is,such phenomenon is widespread especially among youngsters and people with low income and little education.

However, our society is waging a campaign against environmental pollution.People learn the harms of undegradable lunch boxes and other polluting wastes.Laws in many countries prohibit or limit excessive use of polluting bags.Companies are continuely replacing the old materials with more environmental friendly and recyclable kinds.Scientists have developed more effective technologies in waste treatment. As time goes by,more and more people put high priority on the protection of environment for a healthier life.

To sum up,people produce huge amount of garbage and the environment is seriously polluted because of lack of financial resources, sense of responsibility,or efforts. But the world will not turn into a “throw away” society if people put in sufficient efforts to protect our environment.

Environmental hazards are often too great for particular countries or individuals to tackle. We have arrived at a point in time where the only way to lessen environmental problems is at an international level.

Environmental problems have reached such proportions that people feel international organizations must be set up to intervene in world affairs to resolve these problems.Whether this will resolve the problem is very unlikely as international organizations are just an extension of human behavior. That is,if human conflicts cannot be resolved at home, then they are unlikely to be resolved at the international level.Nevertheless, international organizations do attract attention to the growing problem of aims of the international community to resolve the issue of environmental pollution and support their cause,I do not believe it is the best or only way to protect the environment; in fact,it is only a small part of what is needed in a global initiative.

All world problems, whether it is environmental pollution, war, energy insufficiency,or famine, arise from the abusive behavior of all individuals. Therefore, the solution to all these problems is the need for a collective consciousness. What is meant by this is that each individual must be aware of the impact he or she has on the world and their unique part to play in this world. After all,if one is happy with his life,he will surely not endeavor to harm the environment or anyone else. His behavior will be that of a responsible individual.

What is needed, therefore,is education.Education is the key to all problems and it starts from pregnancy all the way to adulthood and beyond.Furthermore, education means that children all over the world should be allowed to go to schools with good teachers and where teaching materials and methods can be adapted to each individual.Education means raising children to be responsible individuals.

This may sound like utopia, but it is not:if a country had important problems in its educational system, then it should realize that it is contributing to the worlds problems. These are perhaps long term solutions, but they are more realistic solutions than setting up yet another international organization.

As is obviously revealed in the bar chart above, over the past seven years (1998-2010),the proportion of free blood donation in clinical blood collection has been climbing and rocketed to over seventy percent in 2004,which is a welcome development to our whole society.

The implied meaning of the bar chart above can be illustrated as follows. To begin with, the increasing percentage indicates that great changes have taken place in terms of peoples spiritual civilization. Most people want to make contribution to our society in one way or another is a way to realize self-value.The spirit of selflessness is more pervasive than ever before.Whats more, the statistics betray that modern people, especially the young, have a better understanding of medical knowledge. Most people have abandoned their old idea that blood donation is most harmful to human body.In one word, our spiritual progress and rich medical knowledge have resulted in such a positive result.

In may view, effective measures should be taken to encourage free blood donation.First of all,a nation-vide education campaign should be launched to spread the necessity and knowledge of free blood donation.Besides, should be set up to protect those who donate blood.Only in this way can we create a harmonious and healthy society.

It is reported that the number of teenage smokers has been on the rise in recent years, which has caused great concern among people in ail walks or life. There are several reasons that account for this fact, but the following three may be the main ones.

First of all,it is easy for teenagers to get cigarettes.Cigarettes are available almost everywhere.Today's teens have more spare money, which comesfromthe improved living standard of their parents. They can buy what they want, includingcigarettes.Second, teenagers smoke because their adolescent years are filled with psychological problems. One of these problems, for example,is establishing a sense of identity. The teen years are the time when young people want to be more independentfromtheir parents and form their ownvalues. The enormous mental pressures of these years can make some people turn to smoking.A final, and perhaps most important, reason is peer pressure to conform.

Teens often become very close to special friends, for one thing, and they will share a friend's interest, even if one of these is smoking.Teenagers also attendparties and other social gatherings where it is all important to be one of the crowd,to be "cool." Even the most mature teenager might be tempted to smoke than to risk being an outcast. For all these reasons, cigarettes are a major problem facing teenagers.
