For 20 years, Rocky Abalsamo sat beside his wifes grave, through every snowstorm and every birthday, to ensure the love of his life was never lonesome. At long last, the loving pair will finally reunite, resting in peace together.
Abalsamo died on Wednesday at the age of 97 and is set to be buried beside his wife, Julia Julita Echeverria Abalsamo
Abalsamos devotion to Julia first received national attention in 20xx, when the Boston Globe reported on the husbands ongoing vigil to his wife of 55 years. At that point, Abalsamo had been watching over his partner for seven years; Julia died in 1993 due to complications from heart surgery.
Devastated by Julias passing, Abalsamo built a routine around her. Each morning he would walk to St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, Mass., open his lawn chair next to Julias plot, greet his wife and then stay beside her, without breaks for food or water, until the cemetery closed for the evening. Before returning home, Abalsamo would sprinkle crumbs on Julias gravesite so the animals would keep his wife company.
She is part of me, so here I am whole, Abalsamo told the Boston Globe in 20xx. Being here makes me feel better. Not good, but better. I do it for Julita, and for myself.
The story attracted strangers, who quickly became friends. The curious, concerned and lovelorn would stop by to give the man blankets and extra clothes, and help decorate Julias grave. In exchange, Abalsamo shared stories of his undying romance and helped advise others on matters of love.
Abalsamo maintained his daily visits until 20xx, when a death in the family encouraged him to spend more time among his living loved ones. He still continued to visit Julia regularly until falling ill in July of last year.
Following Abalsamos request, his family will bury him at the left side of Julias plot, because this was his side when the couple walked together. Now, after 20 years of waiting, Abalsamo and his love are side by side for eternity.

the radio station has an annual tradition where listeners send in wish letters, and the hosts select a handful of wishes that theyll grant. theyve been fulfilling christmas dreams for more than 20 years, but they had never received a letter quite like this.
last week, the hosts of des moines radio station star 102.5 invited listener david schmitz to their annual christmas show, but the station didnt reveal to schmitz who had sent in the wish for his family.
david schmitz recalled: they said it was too personal to get into it on the phone.
they read this letter to him on the air: hello, my name is brenda schmitz, when you are in receipt of this letter, i will have already lost my battle to ovarian cancer.
the letter was dated august 3, 20xx. brenda schmitz passed away less than two months after she wrote it. but brenda schmitz had given this note to a friend, with instructions on when to mail it.
the letter said: i told her once my loving husband david had moved on in his life, and met someone to share his life with again, to mail this letter to all of you at the station.
david schmitz recently met and fell in love with jayne abraham. he proposed to her this september.
brenda schmitz had three wishes for the family she left behind, their four sons, as well as the new family david schmitz was starting. she wrote, i was hoping that one small act you all could do for me could change their lives forever, and they know i am with them always.
first, a weekend of pampering for david schmitzs new partner. the letter said, make her smile, and know her efforts are truly appreciated by me. perseverance will prevail, thank you, i love you whoever you are.
her second wish was to david schmitz and their children. she wrote, for my family, a magical trip. somewhere where they all can enjoy their companionship as a family and make memories that will be with them forever.
lastly, brenda schmitz wanted to give a night of food and fun to the hospital staff that cared for her during her final days.
it was a letter david schmitz wasnt expecting to receive, but one that didnt surprise him either. he said, she had great foresight. but afterwards, quite touching.
and as a part of her final wishes, brenda schmitz left a separate letter, addressed to david schmitzs new wife.
abraham said, the biggest thing was that she said at the end of the letter, she said, i love you. and that was the hardest, most gracious thing that i received.
brenda schmitz ended the letter with this: may god bless and keep all of you safe there, thanks for this. when you wish upon a star, brenda.
a number of local businesses chipped in to make her wish come true. they collected donations, and will be sending the family to disney world.

You dont often see a man walking around a field of cows wearing a pink tutu. Needless to say, we were intrigued by Bob Carey and the shirtless photos of him gallivanting around in a costume often worn by little girls. We sensed there was a good story behind this alter-ego ballerina, but we didnt expect it would be this heartwarming.
The photographer, who has recently moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey, started the TuTu Project when his wife Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 20xx.
The illness reminded Carey that sometimes, laughter really can be the best medicine. It gave us something to focus on that was fun, Linda added.
As she continues to battle the disease, Mr Carey has continued to take the pictures with the hope of turning them into a book and raising awareness and funds for cancer charities.
Linda Carey expressed the unexpectedly huge response from cancer survivors expressing thanks around the web. Many want to share their story or say thanks for sharing the images, she relayed in an e-mail to the Huffington Post. The project really is no longer about Bob and I but all those who have been touched by cancer.
