听力原文:
(Text 1)
M: How long will I have to stay out of school?
W: About a week. You still have a fever.
(Text 2)
M: I have to call the apartment manager.
W: Lost your keys again, huh?
M: Yeah.
(Text 3)
W: Is the flight from New York on time?
M: Yes, it is. It should be arriving in 30 minutes at Gate 7.
(Text 4)
W: Jack, are you going to play tennis with us today?
M: I promised Bill I'd go swimming with him.
(Text 5)
W: Did you move? I went over to your old house, but it was
empty.
M: I'm living in the countryside now. The air is cleaner, and I'm
closer to the school.
(Text 6)
W: Stan, do you have a minute?
M: Oh, hi, Cathy. Sure. What's up?
W: Well, I've been meaning to talk to you about the situation in
the office.
M: I'm not in there very often. It's so noisy that I can't work.
W: That's exactly what I'm getting at. We're supposed to be able
to do our preparation in that office, but have you noticed
Jack constantly has students coming in to get help with his
course?
M: We can't really ask him to stop having students come in for
help, can we?
W: No, of course not. But I'm not able to do my work and
neither are you. I imagine it's the same for the others in the
office.
M: Hmmm, could we ask for a kind of meeting room? When
we have to talk to students, we could go to the meeting
room.
W: Good idea.
(Text 7)
W: Hey Taxi! Ah... Thanks for stopping.
M: Where are you going?
W: Well, I'm going to the National Museum of History, and...
M. Sure. No problem.
W: Uh. Excuse me. How long does it take to get there?
M: Well, that all depends on the traffic, but it shouldn't take
more than 30 minutes.
W: Oh, by the way, do you know what time the museum
closes?
M. Well, I would guess around six o'clock.
W: Uh, do you have the time?
M: Yeah. It's half past four.
W: Thanks.
M: Uh, this is your first time to Beijing City, right?
W: Yeah. Do you know any good restaurants that offer meals at
a reasonable price?
M: Umm... Well, the Friendship restaurant. It's not as
inexpensive as other places I know, but the service is better.
W: Sounds great! How do I get there from the museum?
M: Well, there are buses that run that way.
(Text 8)
W: I’m not looking forward to the English lesson tomorrow.
M: Why not?
W: Because the teacher has said that we’re going to have a
quiz.
M: But you had a test week, didn't you?
W: Yes, we did. That's why I don’t want another one tomorrow,
(Text 9)
W: Robert, you play the guitar, don’t you?
M: I used to. But I haven’t played it for quite some time. I don’t
really have time these days with all my studies. Why do you
ask?
W: I’m trying go organize a group to play at some parties on
weekends. We still need a guitar player.
M: Well, I don’t know. But your idea sounds fun to me.
W: Oh it will be. I’m more or less in charge of things, so if you
want to give it a try, you're in. It's as easy as that. Besides, it's
a great chance to get out and meet people.
M: But I told you I haven't practiced for a long time. I don’t
know if I remember any songs I used to play.
W: Don’t worry about it. I just thought I’d ask you to try and join us sometime when we were practicing. We'll be practicing for a few months before we give performances.
M. OK, I’ll have a try.
W: I’m sure you can do it. And it will be fun, too.
(Text 10)
There was a fire in the middle of the night in a country house where there were many guests. They all rushed out when they heard the alarm. They did not even wait to put on their clothes. Dressed in blankets and overcoats, they were standing watching the flame when another guest joined them. "Why did you get so excited?" he asked "Now look at me. When I heard the alarm, I got out of bed, lighted a cigarette and quietly dressed myself. In fact I was putting on my tie when I thought it was not the best tie to wear with a shirt I had on. So I took it off and put on another. I did not lose my head at all. I never get excited in a difficult or dangerous situation. "That's good," said one of his friends, "but why didn't you put on your trousers?"
