Too much TV
(1) Mama Bear is making Brother and Sister Bear's after-school snack in the tree house.
(2) Brother and Sister get off the school bus and come into the kitchen without a hello.
(3) They take their milk and cookies into the living room and turn on the TV. Later, Papa Bear comes back and joins Brother and Sister.
(4) "There's no question about it. The whole Bear family is watching too much TV!" says Mama.
(5) Mama isn't sure when it began. Maybe it began when the old black and white TV broke down (坏了) and they got a big new color TV. Or maybe it began when Papa put the big antenna up on top of the tree house.
(6) The Bear family had lively talks around the dinner table. But now they just sit around and eat.
(7) Brother and Sister had all kinds of fun playing outdoors. But now they are too busy watching TV.
(8) One day after dinner, Brother, Sister and Papa run into the living room. They are going to watch TV. Mama stands in front of the TV. She says, "No TV for a week!" What will Brother, Sister and Papa do?
The day a sheep comes
1. One day, when the farm animals wake up, they see something strange.
2. "It's white like you, maybe it's a duck," says the goose. "It can't be a duck. Look at the feet!" says the duck. "Then it can't be a goose, either,"
says the goose.
3. "Well, it has four legs, and so do I. Maybe it's a pig," says the pig. "If it barks, it's a dog. Hey, can you say something?" says the dog.
4. "BAAAAA!" says the strange animal. "I'm not a duck, a goose, a pig, a cow, a rooster, or a dog. I'm a sheep!"
5. "A sheep? What's a sheep?" "A farm animal like you. Only different," says the sheep. "All of you are different, like the pig and the dog. They each have four leg, but..."
6. "But he likes mud," says the dog, "and I don't."
7. "That's right. Well, do you like to play a game now?" says the sheep. "Good idea! We love games!" So the sheep laughs and chases the other animals.
8. They play all the morning. They are tired, but have a great time!
Too many puppies
(1) Milly is getting fat. She is having puppies.
(2) One night, Milly has seven tiny puppies. I tell Mommy I have to keep them all. Mommy says, "That would be too many puppies."
(3) The puppies grow fast. I watch them all day because I'm keeping all the puppies. "No way," says Mommy.
(4) Now these puppies are really big! I help feed them now so Milly can take a rest.
(5) The puppies bark loudly, and they make a mess! It seems as if I am always cleaning up after them.
(6) It's time to take the puppies to the vet. It takes a long time to get one, two, three, four, five, six, seven puppies into the car. Mommy is right! We have too many puppies!
(7) Today the people come for their puppies. I give each person a perfect puppy.
(8) I feel sad about the puppies. But I am so happy for Milly, the most wonderful dog in the world!
The sports winner
1. Today is Thursday. Dan, Jan, Pam, Sam, Max and Kim are very happy. It's time for them to play sports.
2. The kids are ready to run. They stand in a line. Coach Mike is big, strong and fun. He blows his whistle. Then he says, "Let's run!"
3. The kids start to run. Max and Jan are fast. Dan is faster. Pam is the fastest. Sam is last.
4. After running, Jan does cartwheels. Kim does flips. Max does rolls. Sam just trips.
5. Coach Mike shouts out,"Go into groups for three-on-three. It's time to play basketball!" The children dribble, pass and run. They're having fun.
6. Now Dan has two kids guarding him---Pam and Max. And Jan guards Kim.
7. But no one guards Sam, because he is not fast and he is always last. Now Dan must pass the ball. But to whom? He has no time to think about it. He just throws the ball.
8. It goes to Sam. Sam shoots. The ball goes in. Hooray for Sam! His team wins.
