Children who are brought up in the family that do not have a lot of money are better prepared to deal with problems when they become adults than children who are brought up by wealthy parent.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

  Model Answer:

Over the past few decades, along with growing interest in child education, peoples attention to the family environment where a child is brought up has also significantly increased. Some people have begun to feel that a child who has grown up in a poor family tend to be better prepared to deal with problems. In my opinion, however, family environment alone does not much influence a childs ability to solve problems.

A child who was born into a poor family would have had more situations where they had to solve a problem or make a decision on their own. This is because in most unfortunate families, both parents are usually working and children are put into situations where they have to take care of themselves. By contrast, due to their wealth, rich children can experience and learn things that unfortunate children cannot. For example, they usually go to the best schools and receive a higher education there, which prepares them better for solving problems in their life.

However, few would disagree with the fact that each individual is different. That is, problem solving skills come more from life experience. That is, the more a person experiences in life, the more they can use these experiences to adjust, to adapt and to solve problems they encounter. Personality also can be a factor in dealing with problems. A person who is optimistic, outgoing, confident and open-minded can look at and solve problems more effectively.

As discussed above, nature and nurture have an equal influence on a childs ability to face challenges. Parents should spare no effort to figure out how they can help their children to be independent. I hope that in the future the next generation will grow up as mature citizens.

When people need to complain about a product or poor service, some prefer to complain in writing and others prefer to complain in person.

  Which way do you prefer?

  Model Answer:

It is rather difficult for me to answer the question how I prefer to complain: in writing or in person because sometimes I just do not have a choice. For example, if I order a product using the Internet from another state or even country, I will more likely have the opportunity to speak to a representative of a company in person. So, in some cases I choose to speak in person and in others I prefer to complain in writing. However, I believe that every option has its advantages.

From the one side, complaining in writing brings many benefits. First of all, one does not have to spend his precious time driving, waiting for his turn and talking with a representative. He can just send mail or e-mail and get all explanation he needs. Second of all, I think it is the best way to avoid an unpleasant conversation. Personally, I do not like to complain about anything especially, in person. Finally, sometimes it is impossible to have a face-to-face conversation because a company which provided a poor product or service is too far away.

From the other side, complaining in person has some benefits too. First, this type of complaining provides an immediate feedback. So, if I have some complains about companys products I will receive all information and explanation right away. However, sending a company a letter and getting a feedback can take more then a month. Second, face-to-face conversation is often more effective. People talk to each other, see each other facial gestures and body movements, which can tell a lot about a person. In addition to these practical benefits, in the case if one can not receive creditable explanation from one representative he always can require to talk to another person. For instance, my husband recently had some extra withdraws from his account by his bank and he was not aware of it. So, he went to the bank and explained to the banks representative the situation and they together found the solution and that money was given back to my husbands account. I think, in this case face-to-face conversation is the best way to complain and get feedback fast.

In conclusion, I think that if I have to complain about a product or poor service I will do it in person. However, if face-to-face conversation is impossible I think I have nothing left but to send a letter or write an e-mail there.

In todays digital age, technology has had a profound impact on education. The integration of technology in the classroom has brought about numerous changes and opportunities.

On one hand, technology has made learning more accessible and convenient. With the advent of online learning platforms, students can access educational resources from anywhere in the world. They can take courses at their own pace and according to their own schedule. This has opened up a world of possibilities for those who may not have had access to traditional educational institutions due to geographical or financial constraints.

Moreover, technology has made learning more engaging and interactive. Educational software and apps use gamification techniques to make learning fun and motivating. Virtual reality and augmented reality technologies can transport students to different places and times, allowing them to experience history, science, and art in a whole new way. Interactive whiteboards and smart classrooms enable teachers to deliver lessons in a more dynamic and engaging manner.

However, there are also some concerns associated with the use of technology in education. One concern is that excessive use of technology can lead to distractions and reduce students attention spans. With the constant presence of smartphones, tablets, and other devices, students may be tempted to check social media, play games, or browse the internet instead of focusing on their studies. Another concern is that technology can widen the gap between those who have access to it and those who do not. In some areas, there may be a lack of infrastructure or resources to support the use of technology in education.

In conclusion, technology has had a significant impact on education. While it has brought many benefits, it also poses some challenges. It is important for educators and policymakers to find a balance between using technology to enhance learning and addressing the potential drawbacks. By doing so, we can ensure that technology is used effectively to improve the quality of education for all.

Environmental protection is of utmost importance in todays world. The Earth is facing numerous environmental challenges, such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. These issues not only affect the present generation but also have far-reaching consequences for future generations.

One of the main reasons why environmental protection is crucial is that it helps to preserve the planets natural resources. Water, air, and soil are essential for life, and their quality and availability depend on proper environmental management. By reducing pollution, conserving water, and protecting forests, we can ensure that these resources are available for future use.

Moreover, environmental protection is necessary for the survival of wildlife. Many species are on the verge of extinction due to habitat destruction, poaching, and climate change. By protecting their habitats and implementing conservation measures, we can help to preserve the diversity of life on Earth.

In addition, environmental protection is important for human health. Pollution can cause a range of health problems, including respiratory diseases, cancer, and neurological disorders. By reducing emissions, improving air quality, and protecting water sources, we can improve the health and well-being of people.

To achieve environmental protection, we need to take collective action. Governments, businesses, and individuals all have a role to play. Governments can implement policies and regulations to reduce pollution, promote sustainable development, and protect natural resources. Businesses can adopt environmentally friendly practices and invest in clean technologies. Individuals can make a difference by reducing their consumption, recycling, and conserving energy.

In conclusion, environmental protection is essential for the survival of our planet and the well-being of future generations. We must all take responsibility and work together to protect the environment.

Urbanization is a global phenomenon that has brought about significant changes in the way people live and work. While urbanization has many benefits, it also poses some challenges.

On the positive side, urbanization brings economic opportunities. Cities are centers of commerce, industry, and innovation, and they attract people from rural areas in search of better jobs and a higher standard of living. Urban areas also have better infrastructure, such as roads, transportation, and communication systems, which facilitate economic growth and development.

Moreover, urbanization promotes cultural diversity and social interaction. Cities are home to people from different backgrounds and cultures, and this diversity enriches the social fabric of urban life. Urban areas also offer a wide range of cultural and recreational activities, such as museums, theaters, and sports events, which enhance the quality of life.

However, urbanization also has some negative consequences. One of the main challenges is overcrowding and congestion. As more people move to cities, the demand for housing, transportation, and other services increases, leading to overcrowding and traffic jams. This can have a negative impact on peoples quality of life and productivity.

Another concern is environmental degradation. Urban areas consume large amounts of energy and resources, and generate significant amounts of waste and pollution. This can lead to air and water pollution, noise pollution, and habitat destruction.

In conclusion, urbanization has both benefits and drawbacks. While it brings economic opportunities and cultural diversity, it also poses challenges such as overcrowding and environmental degradation. To address these challenges, we need to plan and manage urbanization in a sustainable way. This means investing in infrastructure, promoting public transportation, and implementing environmental protection measures. By doing so, we can ensure that urbanization benefits everyone and does not come at the expense of the environment.

Education is the key to personal and social development. However, not everyone has equal access to quality education. Education inequality is a major problem in many countries, and it has far-reaching consequences.

One of the main reasons why education equality is important is that it promotes social mobility. Education provides people with the knowledge and skills they need to improve their lives and move up the social ladder. When everyone has equal access to education, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, they have an equal opportunity to succeed.

Moreover, education equality is essential for economic growth and development. A well-educated workforce is more productive and innovative, and it can contribute to the prosperity of a country. When education is accessible to all, it helps to reduce poverty and inequality, and it promotes social stability.

In addition, education equality is a fundamental human right. Everyone has the right to an education, and it is the responsibility of governments to ensure that this right is fulfilled. Education equality is also important for promoting gender equality, as girls and women often face barriers to education in many parts of the world.

To achieve education equality, we need to take several measures. First, governments need to invest more in education and ensure that schools are adequately funded. This means providing resources such as textbooks, teachers, and facilities. Second, we need to address the root causes of education inequality, such as poverty, discrimination, and lack of access to transportation. Third, we need to promote inclusive education that caters to the needs of all students, including those with disabilities and special needs.

In conclusion, education equality is crucial for personal, social, and economic development. It is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to all. By working towards education equality, we can create a more just and prosperous world.

Dolphin is my favourite animal. It is one of the most precious animals. Their bodies are very long, about one zhang. Dolphins live in the sea. They live on fish, shrimps and so on. Dolphins are very friendly and peaceful. They never attack people.

Instead, they have saved many people in danger in the past years. How helpful the dolphins are! Dolphins are very clever. People often train them so that they can give a dolphin show which brings people a lot of happiness and joy. Unluckily, the number of dolphins is getting smaller and smaller.

Because of water pollution, there is less and less space for dolphins. Many people make money by hunting dolphins. If we don’t protect them, maybe we’ll lose our good friends one day. As a student, I hope more and more people should take actions to protect dolphins.

The charts compare the sources of electricity in Australia and France in the years 1980 and 2000. During these years electricity production almost doubled, rising from 100 units to 170 in Australia, and from 90 to 180 units in France.

In 1980 Australia used coal as the main electricity source (50 units) and the remainder was produced from natural gas, hydro power (each producing 20 units) and oil (which produced only 10 units). By 2000, coal had become the fuel for more than 75% of electricity produced and only hydro power continued to be another significant source supplying approximately 20%.

In contrast, France used coal as a source for only 25 units of electricity in 1980, which was matched by natural gas. The remaining 40 units were produced largely from oil and nuclear power, with hydro power contributing only 5 units. But by 2000 nuclear power, which was not used at all in Australia, had developed into the main source, producing almost 75% of electricity, at 126 units, while coal and oil together produced only 50 units. Other sources were no longer significant.

Overall, it is clear that by 2000 these two countries relied on different principal fuel sources: Australia relied on coal and France on nuclear power.

The advancement of modern technology is making peoples life more comfortable and at the same time less human. To those who enjoy the benefits of technology, there is no better time to be alive than now, but to others life has been increasingly complex and stressful. The issue is whether such new technological machines as computers and the Internet would be our servants forever or eventually could become our masters.

All kinds of inventions made possible by technology are designed to be the slaves of human beings, if human beings are not to be slaved by machines. Once upon a time, we were plain people, but that was before we began having relationships with technological systems. By getting involved with computerized machines, we could not help changing the way we live and the way we work, for better or for worse It can be realized that life is more complex because much of modern technology is not born to meet primary human needs, and many unnecessary inventions are producing negative effects on a living style that used to be relatively simple. Thus, there is an overwhelming feeling of complexity in the sense that machines act like humans and humans act like machines. Now that intelligent machines such as robots are widely applied to take the place of human beings because they are capable of doing many useful jobs, although making many people joblesss. Those who cannot work with computers are disadvantaged and therefore helpless while the traditional skills and simple ways of life are fading away, never to return again.

Wild animals have no place in the 21st century. Some people think that preventing these wild animals from dying out is a waste of resource. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.

Biological diversity has never been so threatened as it is today as a result of the process of human civilization. The various forms of pressure created by human activity have destroyed natural balance, led to the deterioration of natural habitats, genetic erosion and the rarity, even disappearance, of a number of plant and animal species.

As the pace of civilization accelerates, more people, taking more space, needing to use more natural resources, engaging in ever-growing consumption, impose severe deterioration on the habitat of animals. An increasing number of people come to realize that the disappearance of animals will result in serious threat to the equilibrium of ecosystem. Simply put, the extinction of hawks, a rat-eating bird seen in many regions, will result in the rapid propagation of rats. And rats, further, will destroy the prairies and threaten the other animals like gazelles, zebras and others, who live on grass and green lands. The coexistence of animals and human beings creates perfect harmony and brings about the vividness to our planet.

It is hard to imagine what our world would be like without animals. Sociologists also point out that the disappearance of animals can cause social and economic problems. Animal trade, as a supporting sector to the world economy, was very active before. However, the situation is beyond control since animal trade is very profitable and alluring. Many species cannot escape the adversity of being killed.

Certainly, our diet cannot be without meat. There are living stocks, which can provide us with sufficient and nutritious produce. Therefore, we need not to resort to wild animals, especially the endangered ones. To protect animals is to protect our living environment. Every individual should join efforts to keep the diversity of animals.
