英国人购买圣诞礼物的花费居欧洲第一现代英语美文

　　最新公布的一份研究报告显示，英国人在购买圣诞礼物时要比欧洲其它地方的人显得出手更为大方，他们平均每人计划在这方面花600英镑。

　　据英国《每日邮报》12月10日报道，发起这项研究的是法国AXA保险公司，具体承办者是TNS市场调查公司和GfK-NOP研究集团。其中，TNS公司在11月时对英国本土的1022人进行调查，而GfK-NOP研究集团的调查对象则是分布在世界其它地方的9000人。调查结果显示，与英国相比，欧洲其他国家的居民在购买圣诞礼品时要小气得多。调查排行榜上名列第2位的是西班牙人，他们平均每人的花费仅为432英镑;意大利人更是只愿为此掏出373英镑;在圣诞期间表现最为抠门的是比利时人，他们宣称自己在圣诞礼物上的开销仅为272英镑左右;而德国人比前者也强不了多少，该国公民在这方面的`人均支出为300英镑。

　　尽管看上去英国人在圣诞节期间十分慷慨，但有22%的英国人声称，他们会为自己在圣诞期间的花费而感到有压力且忧心忡忡，另外，超过25%的人承认自己需要通过向银行贷款或是透支信用卡的方式筹集到足够多的钱用于购买礼物。

　　Britons are the most generous people in Europe when it comes to buying Christmas presents, planning to spend an average of ?600 on gifts each, new research has shown.

　　This dwarfs our European neighbours, with the Spanish, who expected to spend the second highest amount, splashing out an average of just ?432, while the Italians will get through ?373.

　　People from Belgium are the least generous when it comes to Christmas, claiming they will only spend around ?272 on gifts.

　　The Germans are not much better at an average of ?300, according to insurance giant AXA. But the Americans spend the most over the festive season, lavishing an average of ?764 on their friends and family.

　　People in the United States are also most likely to buy presents with 91% of the population saying they plan to do so, followed by 90% of the French, 89% of Australians and 88% of Britons.

　　But despite their generosity 22% of Britons say they feel stressed and worried about the cost of Christmas, while 25% say they will have to borrow money through a loan or credit card to buy presents.

　　TNS questioned 1,022 people in the UK during November and GfK-NOP Research Group questioned 9,000 people across the other countries.
