　　Leif: Ant Shirley, it's being years since we last met. How were you doing in the passing years?

　　Shirley: It's a bit disappointing that they are all out for a movie.

　　现在分词作定语、表语

　　1.现在分词作定语

　　(1)现在分词作定语时表示该动作正在进行，单个现在分词作定语通常放在被修饰词的前面

　　The rising sun looks very beautiful. 冉冉升起的太阳看着很美。

　　This is an exciting news. 这是个激动人心的消息。

　　(2)若被修饰词与现在分词是被动关系时，须用现在分词的被动式(being done)作定语

　　The song being broadcast is very popular with the young.

　　正在播放的歌曲深受年轻人的欢迎。

　　2.现在分词作表语

　　(1)现在分词做表语是一些表示情绪、心理的词，如excite, interest等，他们的.现在分词形式可以表示“令人激动的”，“令人感兴趣的”等。若表示人对……感兴趣，就是somebody is interested in…,若人或物本身有趣时，就是说sb./sth. is interesting

　　interesting 使人感到高兴

　　exciting 令人激动的

　　delighting 令人高兴的

　　disappointing 令人失望的

　　encouraging 令人鼓舞的

　　pleasing 令人愉快的

　　(3)现在分词作表语表示主语的性质、特征。

　　这时通常可以看作形容词，可以用very, so或much等修饰

　　The news that your team had been beaten in the match was very surprising.
