　　Junior(三年级生)：高中、学院或大学的三年级学生。

　　Leave of Absence(准假)：准许学习成绩优良的学生请假一段时间，然后继续学业。

　　Lecture(讲课)：学院和大学课程的普通教授法。教授在由二十名到几百名学生组成的课堂上讲课，辅之以由助教指导的定期小组讨论。

　　Liberal Arts(或“Liberal Arts and Sciences”,或“ArtsandSciences”)(文理科)：泛指人文学科(语言、文学、哲学、艺术)、社会科学(经济学、社会学、人类学、历史学、政治学)和自然科学(数学、物理、化学)各学科。

　　Loan(贷款)：给学生预支一定数额的款项，以便他们能够完成学业，要求学生离校后以现金或劳务逐步偿还。

　　Lower Division(低年级)：大学本科一、二年级。

　　Major(主修科目)：学生集中攻读的科目或专业领域。大学本科生通常在头两年学习文理科普通课程，然后再选择一门主修科目。

　　Masters Degree(硕士学位)：高等院校向在获得学士学位后修满至少一年课程并达到一定学术要求的学生颁发的学位。
