什么是介词短语？
介词（preposition 简写prep.）后面一般有名词、代词或相当于名词的其他词类、短语或从句作它的宾语，表示与其他成分的关系。介词在句中不能单独作句子成分。
介词后面的名词或代词等称为介词宾语（如果是人称代词，则要用宾格）。介词和介词宾语合在一起构成介词短语。
例如：

介词短语在句子中充当的成分
介词短语在句子中充当表语、状语、定语和补语。
1. 介词短语可以用作表语。
Mr. Smith is stillin bed. 史密斯先生还在睡觉。
He was alreadyin his sixties. 他已经六十多岁了。
Dinner wasat seveno’clock. 晚宴是七点钟开始的。
We areout of food. 我们的食物吃完了。
2. 介词短语可以用作状语。
The children are playingby the river. 孩子们在河边玩。
They often talkin Englishafter class. 他们经常在课后用英语交谈。
Let’s go out for a walkalong the river. 咱们到河边散散步。
3. 介词短语可以用作定语。
The womanin the roomis his wife. 房间里的那个女人是他的妻子。

注意：介词短语作定语时必须置于被修饰名词之后。如：

4. 介词短语可以用作宾语补足语。
We found herin tears. 我们发现她在哭泣。
The cold kept himin bedfor three days. 这次感冒让他卧床三天。
注意：当含有宾语补足语的句子变成被动语态后，原来的宾语补足语就变成了主语补足语。如：
She was foundin tears.（主语补足语）
