一、听力短文概述
与对话相比，听力短文信息量大，篇幅长，句子复杂，内容表述形式通常为独白，略显单一枯燥。这部分由3篇短文组成，每篇长度为240-270词，短文只读一遍，3篇短文后有10道题目。以上这些因素从客观上决定了听力短文相对较难，但是即便如此，考生也大可不必谈其色变。听力短文还是有一定规律可以遵循的。
在选文体裁方面，听力短文以说明文和记叙文为主，鲜有议论文。在题目类型方面，听力短文主要有细节题、主旨概括题和推断归纳题这三种考查形式。在出题位置方面，听力短文除了在开头和结尾处、逻辑关系处、重要细节处设置题目外，受行文结构的影响，部分题目还可能出现在句式语法处、排比列举处等。
二、听力短文高分技巧
1.按“步”就班，轻松解题
首先，预览已知选项，推断问题的.内容和短文大意。在播放短文之前，考生可以利用这段弹性时间浏览各小题选项，推断短文的体裁和大致内容，为播放短文时充分获取信息做好准备。另外，也可据此推断问题的类型甚至内容以便听录音时更有针对性。
其次，手眼脑并用，记录关键信息。播放短文录音期间要听记兼顾，以听为主。一篇短文就是一个信息群，完全靠大脑记忆所有的信息往往是困难的。因此我们应该把获取的主要信息有选择性地记录下来(特别是一些关键细节)，为做出正确选择做好准备。需要特别注意的是，“听”是第一位的，千万不要因为记录前面的信息而漏听后面的信息。
再次，针对不同题型采取相应的解题技巧。在播放问题时，我们要综合利用各种解题技巧做出正确选择。
最后，认真检查核对，尤其应注意含有否定词的题目，不允许任何由于疏忽造成的失误。
2. 熟悉题材，明晰听力重点
通常，听力短文的主要题材有学校题材(剑桥大学等)、机构介绍(协会、图书馆等)、社会热点、灾难题材(车祸等)、新闻题材、人物题材、科普题材(生态环境、新能源等)、故事。学校题材的听力重点主要有学校的地理位置、资金来源、校园环境、师生情况、课程情况、图书馆、课外活动、学校特色;机构介绍题材的听力重点在于机构的地点、规模、制度、专业、特色等;社会热点的听力重点主要是轰动效应、产生原因(背景)、大众观点、专家的态度、说话者的立场等;灾难题材的听力重点有问题的类型、起因、危害、解决方法(尤其是科学家、研究人员提出的事实、观点、方法、结论);新闻题材的听力考查重点是 “5w+1h”，即when, where, who, why, what (which)，how;人物题材的听力重点是生卒年月、出生地、成就(贡献)、经历等;科普题材的听力重点是物体的特征、形成原因、分类、最新研究发现和初步结论;故事题材的听力重点是主人公遭遇、变故、主人公做出的决定、原因及结局等。
