　　剑桥少儿英语预备级(Pre-Starters)是剑桥少儿英语(CYLE)引进中国后增加的部分。

　　剑桥少儿英语(CYLE)是剑桥大学考试委员会(UCLES)特别为测试7-12岁少儿的英语水平而设计的一套测试系统。引进中国后，增加了预备级，分别为预备级(Pre-Starters)、一级(Starters), 二级(Movers)和三级(Flyers)。

　　剑桥少儿英语分为四级，预备级从字母开始学习，适合一到三年级没有参加过英语培训的学生开始学习。当然，教材对一年级和三年级学生的要求是不同的，掌握程度也不同。

　　每年统一组织考试两次，报名时间大约在每年的12月底到次年1月初以及7月中旬左右。

　　一般进度是每周四节课，每课时40分钟，三节课结束预备级的一个单元。平均四套教材需要四年左右全部完成。

　　Part 1

　　In the first phase of Part 1, children taking the test first point to the correct parts of the large picture.

　　When asked, ‘Where’s the girl?’ Tommaso shows that he understands the question, he points to the girl in the large picture. This is good.

　　In the second phase, children put two small picture cards on the large picture following the examiner’s instructions.

　　When the examiner asks Tommaso, ‘What is this?’ Tommaso answers ‘Balloon’, this is good. He shows that he understands the examiner’s next question by answering, ‘Green, blue, red and yellow’, this is good. When the examiner asks Tommaso, ‘How many balloons are there?’ he answers using a complete utterance. ‘There are six balloon.’ This longer answer is better than only one-word answers.

　　In this part, children answer three questions about themselves.

The examiner helps him and asks him, ‘Do you learn English at school?’ Tommaso is then able to answer the question. Sometimes you may not understand a question and you can ask the examiner to repeat the question, this is a good thing to do. It shows that you can ask for help.
