Buying or Borrowing Books?
Life without books is life without light. By books, we improve the material gain and elevate our spiritual civility; by books we praise the good andthe wicked; by books, we inform the wise and educate the ignorant. There are generally two ways in which we can have access to books: borrowing or buying. While millions are borrowing books, I still think buying them best suits me and give me the greatest enjoyment.
Admittedly, there are many merits for borrowing books. For one thing, borrowing books can save us huge amounts of money. And of course, with the money saved we can do other more worthy things .And also, as we borrow books from the library and friends, we normally have deadline to finish them, and consequently we can read more books in a limited time. And we can, above all, better our efficiency of our reading just as a famous Chinese saying goes, “books can not be read unless borrowed.”
However, some advantages for buying books are more obvious and compelling. One of them, definitely not shared by the choice of borrowing books, is the abundance of freedom that buying books can offer us. Since we can keep the books as long as we wish, we can read as much as we want. Another strength of owing books is that we can take whatever notes on the margin of the pages of the books. And finally, the process of selecting and keeping books can be a great fun that borrowing books can by no means offer.

Today is Monday. I got up at 6:30 a.m.. Then I washed my face and ate breakfast. Milk, bread, egg and porridge are my favorites. My mother always gets up early and cooks for me. This morning, I drank a cup of milk and ate bread and an egg. After breakfast, I went to school at 7:00. School started at 7:50 and I usually get there at 7:30. I had English, history, math and geography in the morning. I liked English very much, because my English teacher is very nice. After school in the morning, I went home at 11:30. Then I ate lunch and then had a short rest. I went to school at 14:00. In the afternoon, I had four classes: music, biology, and two periods of Chinese. I liked Chinese, too, because Chinese is our national language and it's very beautiful. After school, I went home for dinner. After dinner, I spent half and an hour on my homework. Then I watched TV and played computer games.

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that drunken driving has been a great problem with which we are confronted. Generally speaking, there are several reasons accounting for /behind this phenomenon. Firstly, recent decades have witnessed the rapid development of people’s living standards. As a result, cars gained ever-increasing popularity and have found their way into our everyday life. Secondly, people participate in more activities orbanquets than ever before, where they will drink liquor/strong wine. Then, they may get drunk but continue to drive. Drunken driving is bound to generate severe consequence if we keep turning a blind eye to it. Firs and foremost, this behavior will directly threaten the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians/goers, resulting in traffic accidents, injuries and even deaths. Besides, treating the injured and repairing broken cars mean a grievous waste of money, time and resources. Last but not least, this irresponsible driving will make the road a nightmare, and thus, it will causes serious losses of faith in governments and the society. In view of the seriousness of this problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is essential that the supervisory role of laws and regulations should be strengthened to punish those performing drunken driving. Secondly, the public, especially drivers, should enhance their awareness of public safety. With stringent laws and alert public, it will only a matter of time for drunken driving to become things of past.

Generally, knowledge gained from books is theoretical, that gained from experience is practical. It is difficult to answer which is more important to we people. It depends on the phases and events of our learning.
Knowledge learned from books is (instructive教育性的,) which perhaps cannot learn directly from experience. We often hear thunders and see lightning in the sky, and we can easily find that lightning will be seen sooner than sound will be heard. According to our experience alone, we cannot tell why it had happened. But when we learn some physics in textbooks, we will find the answer clearly that because light travels faster than sound does, it takes less time for light to travel the same distance than for sound. Therefore, book knowledge can inform us some useful theories that can give us general ideas and help us understand the real phenomenon better.
In turn, practice knowledge check out the theories gained from books. There is an old Chinese saying that practice is the only criterion of inspecting the truth. So not all knowledge from books is credible, even false. When Aristotle wrote in his transcripts that the earth is the center of our planets, no one doubts this for centuries. However, when Galileo read about it, he did not suspect it at first, but when he made some observation and research, he found it is not the truth. Then comes the new theory—Sun center theory.
