The earth is so far the human know can carry only the planet of human life in the universe. Human life in the ball has a history of millions of years. In the long years, human rely on
the earth's resources (air, water, sunlight) survival, reproduction and development, so, the earth is the mother of mankind.
The development of human in the long road, performance of the natural and economic development, has created a brilliant performance. But at the same time, because of the unreasonable
development and utilization of natural resources, do not pay attention to environmental protection work, caused the global ecological destruction and environmental pollution. Now the
world each year, 6 million hectares of land into desert, 20 million hectares of forest disappear in, there is a kind of species extinction in the average one hour. There is growing
because of the destruction of the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, use the earth temperature rising, the Antarctic ice cap began to melt, sea plane will continue to rise, many
coastal cities in the world, islands and a large number of land, will be swallowed by the sea. This a series of environmental problems, not only affects the development of economy and

We Are a Normal Member of the Big Family of Nature
good afternoon everybody.
Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen. Today，we are gathering here to discuss a very hot issue. how to find harmony in a new age between man and nature? Where modern science and technology are concerned I am only a layman I have to say. However, living in this "new age" , seeing my dear ones suffering from respiratory diseases from time to time, finding the beautiful colors of green and blue are being replaced by that of gray and pale, and realizing that our mother planet is getting more and more unhealthy; I can't help trying to offer my idea and my trivial efforts to look for the answer of the question.
As the ancient Greek oracle goes: know thyself. I think in answering this above-mentioned question, this precondition is also very important.
Who are we? This is a question, which should be answered not only by those specialists, but also by every one of human beings.
Some people may proudly say: we are the masters of nature. It is true that the idea of "man can conquer nature" has dominated people's mind for years, and it is true, man has kept acting like a master and doing whatever things he wants for thousands of years. However, as the consequence of this kind of "leadership" , now the "master" seems to be confronted with problems that are far beyond his control. Facts are really very ample. The
green house effect leaves islands and cities along the coast, such as this oriental pearl-Shanghai, in danger of the disaster of being drowned; the holes of the ozone layer make the earth less suitable to live for some creatures including human beings; the phenomena of EL Nino and La Nina leave the land with serious flood and drought, and the diseases, caused by pollution, are increasing at an incredible speed... Seeing all these facts, can we still ignore the counterattack of nature? We are not the masters of nature. Facing all the disasters made by ourselves, we, mankind as a whole should realize that we are just a normal member of the big family of nature. Any mistreatment towards nature will meet only with the revenge from her.
By saying so, I do not mean we should give a sudden stop to any development. Because that will result in a threat to the existence of human society. I mean we should treat nature equally, leaving the chance of existence and development to nature as we are obtaining the same thing, and thus we will get the situation of win-win.
I am very pleased to find that now more and more people, from every corner of the planet, have come to realize that harmony with nature is the only way to universal and continuous progress and prosperity. And I think that is why we come here from all over the country to discuss this topic today.
I want to end my speech by quoting from Mr. Nixon. "Our destiny offers, not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity." The future is not ours to see of course. However, by seizing firmly the opportunities, by knowing clearly about ourselves, we, human beings, can doubtlessly achieve the real harmony with nature!

I read a piece of news recently. It says that in Japan marly businessmen ave selling fresh air to customers.and now it is becoming more and more popular. Why?――Fresh air is getting less and less in Japan, and so is it in the U. S. A.
In fact, environmental pollution is a very serious problem the whole world is facing.
it is mainly caused by the waste products released from artificial substances, industrial production and increased consumption of goods. Bedsides, the use of chemical substances in agriculture also causes environmental pollution. Look at the sky, you can see that dense smoke is being released from the high and big chimneys; those dirty and poisonous substances are flowing into the rivers that we use for drinking water and millions of tons of waste products are heaping around us.
How to change this condition?More and more countries are trying to work out some effective means to bring it under control, but no great success has been made.
二：Environmental Pollution
The picture shows the pollution caused by chimneys of the factories in cities. Often, the sky is covered by large clouds of smoke from chimneys. The air is nearly suffocating, especially in the evening as it becomes cold and the smoke is spreading everywhere. The scene reminds us of the end of the world.
From the picture we can infer that the drawer of the picture intends to convey to the readers that unplanned factories has brought about great hazards to the city air condition. Due to planning mistakes, factories were usually placed in the center of cities, among residential and business districts. Besides, nearly every block has several chimneys for the heating system, which makes the whole city immersed in thick columns of smoke. As a result, respiratory diseases have been reported to be rising and old people dying of the worsening air pollution.
Pollution is really a hot issue in the world. If we don’t take useful measures, we may live in terrible surroundings, and some unexpected results may come out in the end. So, what we should do is to bring down the problems caused by chimneys. For one thing, factories with chimneys should be moved out of the center of the city and it should be made sure that the waste gases are at least not poisonous. For another, other means of heating should be developed to stop using coal. In a word, in the city there should be no coal, no chimney, and no smoke to pollute the air.
三：Pollution: An Increasing Concern in China
It is reported that ten big cities in China are being ranked among the top twenty cities with the highest pollution index in the world. This means it is high time we did something to bring the situation under control.
Many factors are contributing to the deteriorating situation: industrial wastes pumped into the air, the lakes and rivers; a increasing number of automobiles crowding into the streets; the widespread use of plastic bags etc.
To my view, stiffer laws and regulations must be implemented to check pollution. Industries that release wastes without permission should be heavily fined. Cars should be equipped to minimize the exhaust they release into the air. And the use of plastic bags and disposable meal boxes should be banned. What’s more, the media should play an important role in implanting a sense of environmental consciousness into people’s mind.
If everybody works toward a common goal of making the environment better, we can create a cleaner and lovelier world for us and for the coming generation.
四：Environmental Pollution
Low-carbon life is the lifestyle of the time to minimize energy consumption, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Low-carbon life, for those of us ordinary people is an attitude to life. It gives us is a willing and we were creating a low carbon life issues.Taomi Shui can be used to wash their hands every day, clean furniture, water the flowers and so on. Clean, natural moisture;Scrap paper will pave the lowest in the closet can not only absorb moisture, can absorb the smell in the closet;Drink tea residue, dry it, make a tea pillow comfortable, and help to improve sleep;(
Lifestyle to reduce energy consumption when, thereby reducing the carbon, especially carbon dioxide emissions. Low-carbon life, for us ordinary people, an attitude, not ability, we should actively promote and to practice the "low carbon" life, pay attention to energy saving, fuel-efficient, water saving, solar terms, starting from scratch.
