青年教师英语演讲稿
to winthe students’ hearts
hejing
when mrs.zhu told us about this speech competition on teachers, i couldn’thelp recalling my memory to 9 years ago, when i was a juniorstudent. i’m not good at english first, because tons of homeworkand dull classes made me think english is just a subject playingwith alphas. at that time, i believe even math is far moreinteresting than english. but my attitude soon changed, due to thearrival of our new english teacher, mai ling, she was 24years oldand just graduated from xinjiang university. i am really poor inmemory, i nearly forgot half of my teachers, but mai ling, her faceand appearance seem have deeply rooted in my mind. she is a prettyand smart girl. but i think it was her charming personality andinteresting teaching way that impressed me more. instead of scoldingon and on for our mistakes, she was always kind, understanding andrespectful of us. instead of being quiet like a lamb in class, weare truly allowed to express our own opinions. this made everybodyfeel happy, comfortable and confident, we were not frightened ofher so that we dare to ask questions. during her teach, every nighti would prepare my questions. every time when i come acrosssomething unknown, i would leave a question mark and waited for heranswer. she encouraged that and very good at explaining myproblems. soon my grades stand out among the peer, then i reallyadulged myself into english. right after that, english moives, magazines and songs became the essential part of my life, so nowander i majored in english and started my career as an englishteacher. naturally, a brand new but ambitious teacher is standingright here dreaming of being an excellent one.
the experience of mailing defined what is a good teacher. among allthe qualities required. i’ve learned that first it’s veryimportant having an interesting teaching way as well as having asolid subject knowledge for a new teacher. she was not a grammarprofessional, at least at that moment. but she tried to make usfocused and learn in the class. i remember once we were out of mindwhen she came into the classroom, she wasn’t hurried to finishher task, but she told us a story, pandiar’s box. how doesdisaster fall onto the earth. we were totally attracted by herdiscripton, and undoubtly that class went smoothly as her planned.most graduates, including me, pay more attention to professionalknowledge at the sacrifice of teaching method. students thinkschool is boring, however, good teaching method can make all thedifference and make up for insufficiency in the professionalknowledge. under such circumstance, students, like me, will feelcomfortable and confident. but just being kind and respectwouldn’t work if we don’t work out rules. and sometimes we needto stick to our rules and be consistent of it, that’s perhaps isthe most endurable part of teaching. when out of the class, reaching a balanced relationship is like abridge through which we can win their hearts. but it seems thatthey are quite intrested in famous stars, but we cared more aboutour money on the stock market. obviously, our intrests differs alot. but we, adult, cannot only think by our perspective. we shouldtry to understand the way they think and be interested in what theyare talking about. don’t think they are childish, hi, we used tobe just like them, aren’t we!
at last, i wish every teacher could have a young heart no matterhow old we are. surely, our appearance can be faded away, but theyoung heart will still be there, winning the morehearts.
