我外婆的家乡是在粤北一个极为贫困的小村庄，全国数一数二的重点扶贫对象。那天，当我踏足这个只有三、四十户人口的地方，一切令我目瞪口呆：弯弯曲曲的卷道，摇摇欲坠的土砖房，荒芜开裂的田地，整个村庄看起来暗黑暗黑的，就像暴风雨前乌云盖天一般。

走进三姨婆家，我更为它的简陋所惊呆：没有自来水，没有电灯，两张桥凳上放一张木板便是床，全家只有一个半米高的小板凳，只有三姨公可以坐，一家大小只有三姨公偶尔会拖拉着一双旧得看不出原来模样的土布鞋。

这晚，碰巧让我赶上了上级来这儿视察贫困情况。三姨公一听到这个消息，就立即蹬掉了那双旧鞋，光着脚满屋乱窜;油箱里的油要倒大半出来藏好;灶前的柴不要堆太多，留一两跟就好了;一家大小都要换上一套更破、更旧的衣服;才两岁的小丫干脆裤子也不用穿了;米缸掏空它，扔几个黑馒头下去;连那张唯一的板凳也藏了起来……

经过这么一折腾，这更变成了人间地狱。

晚上，上级的工作人员到了三姨公家里，于是在只有豆苗大小的火光中，呜咽声，小孩的哭闹声混杂在一起，就像旷野坟场上那诡异的风声，跳跃的火苗把三姨公一家人的影子映在墙上，斑斑驳驳，闪烁不定。

第二天，批示就出来了，这里还需要继续大力扶贫!也就这天，调查人员走了，我听见了三姨公家里的锅舀声。三姨公照旧倚坐在门角吸着旱烟。其实，这里不只三姨公这样，其它人家里的男人也是整天在这条闭塞的巷子里闲逛，孩子也不上学，整天乱窜，女人们就只管一日三餐，唯一无人打理的，是那些田地。

我用我仅有的一点化学知识，对土地作了初步的判断，其实这些土壤并非十分贫瘠，虽然这里是粤北，但仍属于中国的南部，仍然是气候比较宜人的地方，不致于农作物颗粒无收。

我问三姨婆，为什么不做田里的活。三姨婆看了我一眼，说：

“那么积极干嘛，日里晒，雨里淋，也就一个肚饱，我还不如坐着等吃。”

我惊讶于这句话，难怪这里的人一辈又一辈地穷下去，工作对于他们来说无意义，读书也是白搭。

这里真正贫瘠地不是土地，而是人心!

这里真正缺乏地不是金钱，而是尊严!

这里真正需要扶贫的不是物质，而是人们的精神!

帮助别人脱贫也要走对路，要帮助他自力更生，而不是永无休止的施舍。其它的帮助也是这样，否则，就会落入“越扶越贫，越贫越扶――越帮越忙，越忙越帮”的怪圈。
